Clinical Observation for VSD Technology Treating Patients with Diabetic Foot

Objective: To observe clinical efficacy of VSD technology for treating diabetic foot, and investigate clinical methods for treating diabetic foot.

 

Methods: There were 52 diabetic patients. After conventional treatment, there was without sphacelus on wound surface, bacterial culture of local secretion was negative. Clinical observation was taken after VSD treatment. 

 

Results: Wound healing was satisfactory in 52 cases with diabetic foot. For 42 cases with satisfactory wound healing, the healing time was 32 to 65 days, and the average time was (45.6±10.3) days; ten cases had to take suction continuously for 5 days after vacuum drainage for 5 days. Seven cases were with satisfactory wound healing, and the healing time was 56 to 78 days, and the average time was (64.3±13.6) days; three cases were with satisfactory wound healing after skin graft.

 

Conclusion: During conventional treatment of diabetic foot, VSD technology can shorten wound healing time, avoid cross infection , reduce dosage of antibiotics, decrease frequency of dressing changing, relieve patient’s pain, shorten patient’s hospitalization time, and reduce hospitalization costs. It is a safe and effective method that can promote wound healing in patient with diabetic foot.
